Bikes and Murder came about one night while Mike and Jason played "Call of Duty". Jason and Mike were heavy in a battle, and when it ended Jason looked at Mike and asked "is it pathetic that all I need right now in my life to stay entertained is riding our bikes and killing zombies?"

Mike looked over at Jason and said,
"Bikes and Murder man, Bikes and Murder."

And hence it was born.

At first it was just going to be a bike club, but the more we thought and talked about the bigger it became. Bikes & Murder plans, hosts and contributes to cycling events in Detroit. We make clothing. We're planning a short film. It will only grow from there.

Since we've began, Bikes & Murder has came to represent so much more than a place to sell shirts. It's the possibility to be free from the Establishment. The freedom to go out on our own and do something for ourselves.

The more we meet people and talk about what we do, the more we realized that "Murder" means different things to different people. Some people "Murder" a test. Some people "Murder" a sandwich. Whatever obstacle lay ahead of you, if you asked us how to handle it, we'd tell you to "Murder" it.

(who we are)

Jason Hall

I was born and raised in Detroit and I've lived in the city my entire life. I use my bike not only for recreation but as my main mode of transportation.

I'm into video production, digital media arts, Crown Royal, and block parties. The most important things in life are being happy and finding something you love doing and doing that for a living.

Mike Mackool

I never wanted to go the conventional route.

I finished high school early and went to Nepal to study at a monastery. I came back to Detroit to try the college thing. It wasn't for me. So I became a cook at a Cuban restaurant, then a kitchen manager and later an executive chef. I even tried the corporate world for 6 months.

Things always seemed to work out better doing them my own way.

My main focus in life has always been art, music, fashion, and food. I helped open an art gallery, and my contributions ensured its future success. Since then I've taken a different path. I met Jason, we rode bikes, we killed zombies, and now we are Bikes & Murder.

Liz Kerner

I moved to Detroit at 18 to for college. I liked it here. So I found a job that I could ride to every morning and decided to stay. I've been finding ways to keep busy ever since.

I try to keep things simple. I like to make things, especially on my letterpresses. I like to ride my bike. I like to kill zombies. I also like beer and having a good time.
